Couples Therapy in Kansas City

Couples therapy is a dance between individual growth towards wholeness and growth in intimacy as a couple.

I see the anger, the yelling, the slammed doors, the shut-downs as the tip of the ice berg sticking out of the water.  Below the surface lies a glacial mass that is at the heart of your feelings of disconnection.

I help couples get beneath the words and behaviors that push each other away, and begin to express their feelings of hurt, disappointment, betrayal, and their longings to be safe, to be understood, to be loved and accepted by their partner.

We work together to communicate feelings and needs, to repair past hurts, and to create a new and deeper experience of connection and trust.

We often bring unconscious wounds, patterns, and longings into our relationships, projecting unmet needs and unfinished business onto our partners.

In our work together, I am happy to explore family patterns that are showing up in your relationship: we can work towards becoming free of narratives and fears that block you from connecting.  I can help you identify and heal the individual wounds and longings that get triggered by your partner and cause strong and hurtful reactions.

I will guide you towards creating a more loving and thriving partnership.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
